Price score

The higher the percentage score, the cheaper the policy compared to other products. This score is across all policies Australia wide, but premiums can differ a lot, depending on where you live. Check the $ sign price rating for your region or state to find a closer price indication for your home. "N/A" means the insurer doesn't operate here, or doesn't participate in the premium sharing program we use to collect pricing data.

Satisfaction score

We surveyed customers to ask them about their overall experience with the insurer. This score represents the percentage of people who rated their experience as above average or excellent. N/A means there was no result for that insurer. This score does not contribute to the CHOICE Expert Rating.

Pay-by-the-month charge

Does this insurer impose an extra administration fee for paying monthly? This is sometimes described as a discount for paying annually, but it amounts to the same thing.

Underinsurance protection

An underinsurance safety net means your insurer will cover you for more than your sum insured, if you have a total loss and the cost of rebuilding is more than your sum insured. Total building replacement cover means you don't set a sum insured, and the insurer commits to rebuilding no matter the cost. Note that safety nets may be an optional extra.
