Dual Enrollment

Middle Georgia State University (MGA) offers Dual Enrollment courses for current high school students who meet the program eligibility criteria through the Georgia Academy.

The Georgia Academy is a unique, state-funded program that allows high school students to graduate with an associate’s degree, receive an honors distinction, participate in experiential learning, and/or receive college credits at little to no cost.

Application Process

All requirements in the lists below must be met for admissions to consider an application for Dual Enrollment:

11th and 12th Graders

• A high school GPA in core curriculum classes of 3.0 or higher.
• Must be on track to complete Required High School Curriculum requirements.
• SAT/ACT test scores are optional for 11th and 12th graders

10th Graders

• A high school GPA in core curriculum classes 3.0 or higher.
• Must be on track to complete Required High School Curriculum requirements.
• Meet the minimum score requirements for SAT or ACT as follows:

1. Submit an Undergraduate Application
2. Request official high school transcript be submitted by high school counselor*
3. Submit proof of Lawful Presence
4. Check your personal email for next steps

  FAQ

  The Georgia Academy at MGA is a unique, state-funded program that allows high school students to take college classes before graduating high school at little to no cost.

  Once students enroll for Dual Enrollment at MGA, they also enroll in the Georgia Academy. The Georgia Academy offers options for high school students to graduate high school with an associate’s degree, earn an honor’s distinction, participate in experiential learning, or receive college credits to advance their academic careers.

  When students dual enroll, they will receive college credits and high school credits for the same course.

  MGA Admissions accepts student applications until class drop/add deadlines each semester. While these are preferred deadlines, they are not hard deadlines:

  • Fall Semester: July 24th
  • Spring Semester: December 11th

  Up to 30 total credit hours of courses and textbooks are funded by the Georgia Student Finance Commission. Once you exceed the limit for funding, you have the option to self-pay for classes.

  You may be subject to lab fees or other fees that are not covered by Dual Enrollment — payment of these fees is the responsibility of the student and their parent/guardian. See the f ull list of funding limitations and Dual Enrollment award amounts.
